London Fashion Week: The Street Styles You Need To Cop

lead image

From ruffles to animal skin prints to belt bags to chunky jewellery, London street fashion 2018 is all about these nine styles

We have said our goodbyes to New York and moved on to the next exciting venue. Right now, our eyes are on London. The city is hosting its fashion week and there is a lot to learn including how to transition from hot days to the nippy autumnal months.

But its not the runways that we're looking at for our inspiration. It is the show-goers on the streets who have turned London's busy roads into a runway of sorts.

There's plenty of style takeaways from the London streets and if you're planning your transitional outfits, we recommend taking a cue from them.

London Street Fashion 2018: The Looks You Need To Cop

From animal prints to quirky denims, from structured suits to feminine ruffles, and from chunky jewellery to belt bags there is a lot to learn from London street fashion 2018.

1. Midi skirts

If there was one piece of clothing that prominently appeared on the streets of London during the fashion week, it was the midi skirt. Fun, feminine, smart and cosy, the midi is the perfect item and a must-have in every fashion diva's wardrobe.

From pleated to ruffled, from animal print to polka dots, and from denims to silk, there are a lot of choices. But we personally loved Instagram's director of fashion partnerships, Eva Chen's Erdem midi. The vertical zipper patterns add a punch to an otherwise simple skirt.

2. Colour blocking

Yes, yes, yes! Colour-blocking is still going strong this year. This trend can add personality to any single item and make you stand out among crowd.

We especially loved this style, because every colour (even though different) is of a similar hue and blends perfectly with each other. A structured coat and boots get our thumbs up too!

3. Masculine blazers

This year has certainly been all about gender-fluidity, especially on the runways. And, we see no reason why it shouldn't transcend into our personal styles as well. If you are into blazers or suits, this is the perfect time to flaunt them.

Structured blazers with shoulder pads are back (yes!) and fashion bloggers and models are embracing it with open arms. Let's give props to designer Victoria Beckham as well, she does love herself a structured blazer and we love to cop her looks.

4. Lots of ruffles

Ruffles too have been pretty big this year and were on full display at many New York Fashion Week shows. They were seen on many fashion bloggers and show-goers at London Fashion Week as well.

We loved how fashion blogger Masoom Minawala paired her ruffled midi with cropped Levi sweats and accessorised her look with turtle shell cat-eye glasses and a gorgeous 0711tbilisi handbag.

5. Leopard print

Take notes from the queen herself, people. Victoria Beckham is serving some haute leopard prints and we are living for it. The gorgeous designer was seen heading to a special meet and greet wearing a midi leopard print dress, indicating yet again, that animal prints will continue to rule the roost this year.

She paired them with delicate baby blue heels and clutch and her look only goes to show that no matter the season, if you have animal prints, flaunt them.

6. Denim rage

Another 90s trend that is back and how, is denim. From dresses, jeans, shirts, skirts and of course, shorts and minis, denims are everywhere. If you are not a fan of the jeans and skirts, there is always a good old oversized denim shirt waiting to be grabbed.

The beauty of the fabric is that it is casual and yet smart and makes for the perfect addition to your day-to-night looks. We love how this fashion blogger has thrown her oversized denim shirt over a bralette and sequinned midi skirt.

7. Snakeskin boots

Yes, another animal print that is making a splash is the snakeskin. So much so that high-street brands such as Zara and H&M, and Mango are now stocking up on this style and you can find its variants in their clothes and accessories.

So if you haven't got your hands on one yet, there is still time for you to head on over to the high-street and grab yourself a snakeskin akin item. London street fashion 2018 was all about the animal print this year.

8. Belt bags

They started trending last year and are going strong this year too and were especially an accessory highlight at London street fashion 2018. And going by the trends so far, they are well likely to be popular next year as well.

Fashion bloggers have been flaunting this for quite a while now and high-street has caught up on it too. You can find such bags in brands like Mango

9. Chunky gold accessories

When it comes to accessories, some would say less is more. But not at fashion week. Influencers, models, celebrities, you name it, everybody is on a jewellery high right now.

The fashion industry is filled with girls stacking and layering necklaces, wearing chunky gold earrings and tonnes of rings. If you are into gold jewellery or have had a few heirloom pieces, its time to show them the light of the day.

With so many trends and styles at London street fashion 2018, choosing a favourite might be challenging. So we recommend you to get your hands on the ones that you naturally gravitate towards. Make the world your own runway!
